In a meeting held in Paris in early December 2008, the plenary meeting of the OECD Scheme for the Application of International Standards for Fruit and Vegetables unanimously decided to nominate Mr. Ran Ben David as chairman of the Scheme.
The OECD Scheme for the Application of International Standards for Fruit and Vegetables is an international setting standards body operating within the framework of the Agricultural Committee of the OECD in order to facilitate the trade of fresh produce by setting up explanatory brochures for quality standards of fruit and vegetables.
As an active member of this committee for many years, Israel's expertise and inputs in the field of quality standards for fresh produce, received an international appreciation.
Recently, Mr. Ran Ben David has introduced a new concept for explanatory brochures of quality standard for citrus fruit. The new concept has been adopted by the Scheme and Mr. Ben David's initiative was highly regarded by Scheme members as well as by OECD officials.  His recent nomination as the chairman of the OECD Scheme reflects the appreciation and esteem he gained for his proficiency and expertise. PPIS pat on the back of Mr. Ran Ben David for his professional work and wish him all the best and success in his new position.
